Well, at least things are progressing.


For those that noticed, I updated some of my DA information, and also changed my avatar. I've replaced the Wing Commander, Union of Border Worlds insignia for that of the symbol associated with FreeSpace 2. I was going to use the Galactic Terran Alliance insignia from FreeSpace or the TCS Midway's insignia from WC5, but I could not find a good enough model.


Writing here instead of on my blog, because I've been too lazy to sit down and fix the file corruption with it from the last crash. Really need to get a backup solution, but I can't afford a tape library, which would be the optimal choice. For now going to try paying off a few more bills then buying the next evolution of GameBox, and taking the old GameBox and making it my backup machine. Backing up a RAID with another RAID isn't optimal, but I can afford it. For now I'll leave it's OS as Vista, but if WHS improves some I might try switching over to it. As much as I would like to run a second Server 2008 environment, I cannot afford that either.


My virtual library is moving along again. Previously, after I had managed to get everything working, I move the server to another case that had better airflow, but in the process ditched one of the HDDs. The new case could only support 15 drives, not 16. Normally this is a non-issue, but I screwed up one of the recovery processes which led to some mild data corruption. I had backups of some things in another location, but I have no way currently of backing up the library. Rather than try and figure out if all those files were still in good condition, I just decided to rebuild the entire array, wiping it out. Using several computers this time for making the Library has greatly sped up the process, and it should be done within a few days.


Work still sucks. Recently got yelled at and counselled for nothing in particular. I've been rather docile at this new command, but we'll see how long that continues at the current rate. I am not well known for keeping my mouth shut when people start acting stupid, regardless of the rank they have over me. Previously I had a security blanket, now I do not. Guess we'll just see what happens. 2.5 years of caring left, this is what I tell myself. But really, we all know I stopped caring a while ago. Now I'm just fulfilling my contract.


One day at a time, until I can finally move on.
